Docents Needed!
Hoyt Arboretum Friends is introducing a new education outreach program to educate the public, attract members and potential donors, and increase awareness about Hoyt Arboretum. We are currently recruiting for docents: a dedicated and thorough volunteer who can facilitate and lead guided tours (with the use of scripts and training).
Duties include:
- Leading scripted tours of the Arboretum to groups of 15-25
- Answering basic botanical questions
- Ensure the safety and learning of tour groups
- Leading tours on weekends (minimum commitment is one 4-hour shift/month)
- Provide input and feedback about tour scripts to program staff
- Minimum 6-month commitment and ability to participate in one full day of training
Expertise or skills required:
- Creative and energetic public presentation skills
- Basic botanical knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
- Physical ability to hike in the Arboretum
