A description of the tours at Hoyt Arboretum.
Guided Tours
Tours are available on Labor Day, September 6!
Hoyt Arboretum Friends (HAF) is pleased to announce the return of guided tours of the Arboretum!. Tours run most Saturdays through November (see dates below) at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The cost is $3 per person for a 90 minute tour. Tours begin at the Visitor Center at 4000 SW Fairview Blvd.
Tours are led by trained volunteer docents who will take visitors on a journey through the historic and biologically diverse collections. The 9:00 a.m. tour will primarily focus on the conifer collection, while the 11:00 a.m. tour will explore the flowering trees of the Arboretum. Visitors will learn about the rich history of Hoyt Arboretum, collection specimens, and have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the trees.
Proceeds from the tours go to support collections activities and tree maintenance. The purchase price of a tour can be applied to the purchase of a Hoyt Arboretum membership. Tours are available on the following dates:
- September 6, 11, 18, and 25
- October 9, 16, 23, and 30
- November 13, 20, and 27
Green Walks
Walk through the best and most interesting of Portland's parklands and learn about history, landscaping, wildlife, and current issues from parks staff and volunteers. Hoyt Arboretum walks—leaving from the Visitor Center at 4000 SW Fairview Blvd—are held on the first Saturday of the month through November. Portland's Heritage Trees will be the focus of walks once a month. All walks begin at 10 a.m. on the following dates:
- September 4
- October 2
- November 6

Specialized Tours
Youth, family, and adult groups (7-100 participants) may plan guided walks with environmental activities or stewardship programs at many sites within the Portland park system including Hoyt Arboretum. Leaders are qualified to meet scouting badge requirements, Oregon curriculum benchmarks, and other program requirements. Dates, activities, and other presentation specifics are individually arranged for each group. Fee: $3/person. Call 503-823-3601 to make arrangements.
