The word “pine” is often used as a catch-all to describe any number of coniferous trees. This tour will discuss the botanical attributes that constitute genuine pine trees and discuss how they differ from other conifers. We’ll provide an overview of the arboretum’s extensive collection of pines, talk about general pine ecology, and compare them to distant cousins in the pine family like spruces and firs.
Tours occur rain or shine. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes for walking on trails, and bring your camera to take photographs.
Registration is not required; please meet at the Visitor Center at 11:00 AM. Free for HAF members; $3 donation asked for non-members.
