2024 marked an important milestone in stewardship at Hoyt Arboretum as we celebrated the 40th anniversary of Tuesday Crew!
Hoyt Arboretum is supported by an amazing community of volunteers, including the dedicated members of the Tuesday Crew. This stewardship group was established in 1984, and in the 40 years since, they’ve worked side-by-side with Hoyt Arboretum’s curator to care for the trees and trails. They meet every week, year-round, and through all types of weather to clear brush, remove invasive weeds, maintain trails, plant seedlings, prune, mulch, water in the summer, and so much more.
This year was also a special anniversary for Tuesday Crew members Ed Kushner and Des Murphy, who both started volunteering with the group in 2004. Their 20 years of dedicated volunteerism at Hoyt Arboretum is a remarkable achievement, and their volunteer efforts over the years can be seen in every corner of the park. Thank you to Ed, Des, and all the Tuesday Crew volunteers for their dedication to keeping Hoyt Arboretum a welcoming, beautiful, and safe park for everyone to enjoy.
