Thinking about planting a new tree, but feeling unsure about your path? Join Hoyt’s Nursery and Planting Specialist Brett Rousseau to discover the next steps. Brett will walk you through different types of planting stock, what to look for when choosing a sapling, and proper planting techniques to ensure your tree has the best chance of living a long and healthy life. She’ll discuss ‘right plant, right place’ and how to choose the best tree for your site specific needs. Embrace your inner Lorax!

About the instructor: Brett Rousseau is an arborist, an artist, and a native plant enthusiast. She works at Hoyt Arboretum taking care of the nursery, propagating seeds, tree planting and establishing them in the field. She is a freelance arborist, pruning trees in the Portland area, and a landscape designer with a passion to increase the amount of tree canopy and native plant habitat in our yards.
